Weekly Update 5/20/2022: From the Mouths of Mad Folk
Hey folks, we've spent the last couple months getting slowly caught up on the backlog of writing and editing articles and Fables and reading new Fable submissions. In recent weeks, we decided to up our game by building an online store and updating our Patreon tiers, putting to use Eric's love of putting gross artwork on commercial products.
This week, we're finally feeling caught up. We've settled back into our mostly bi-weekly release schedule, and our inbox no longer looks like the boulder of Sisyphus.
New & Upcoming Dissections
Earlier today we posted a Dissection of the 2019 Netflix film I Am Mother called "Robots Make the Worst Ethics Teachers." It's all about how you shouldn't take abortion ethics advice from a self-aware AI, no matter how maternal she seems. This article was originally going to be a Judgment, but then we read a bunch of other people's articles suggesting that the movie is an anti-abortion screed. We couldn't keep quiet about it.
Because that Judgment turned into a Dissection, you might have noticed that it interrupted our Dissection series on animated horror. Don't worry, we're picking that series back up soon with a post on one of our favorite animated films of all time, 1978's Watership Down. The plan after that is to return to anime horror with one (possibly two) more articles. We definitely have one in the pipeline for Satoshi Kon's 1997 masterpiece Perfect Blue and his totally bizarre piece of dreamscape horror, 2006's Paprika.
Upcoming Fable for the Dying
We're planning to publish a new entry in our Fable for the Dying series within the next couple weeks. More on that soon, but it involves ghosts and poker.
New Weird Stuff in the Cabinet of Desire
The Cabinet of Desire is where we sell Eric's creepy artwork printed on t-shirts, coffee mugs, and the like. We've added some new minimalist t-shirts, pillowcases with our Dissected Head artwork, and these disgustingly cool tote bags with severed tongues printed all over them.
